“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this
world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve
what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2
Do you ever wonder what God’s will is for your
life? What the big picture is supposed
to be for you? There are times that finding the will of God is a bit confusing
to uncover. But this passage offers a
lot of sound wisdom about how to go about deciphering His will.
First, we must come apart from the rest of the
world and its pattern. We cannot think
like the world, talk like the world, act like the world or go about things as
the world does. Rather, we have to allow
the Word of God to so richly dwell within us, that our minds are transformed and
renewed. That means the mind begins to
think and operate like the spirit man, rather than being carnal. Thinking with the mind of the Spirit allows
us so much more potential to understand God’s will and ways than trying to
decode it all through our own intellect and reason.
Renewing our minds with the Bible takes more than
a casual reading. It requires study,
meditation and personal application. But
the more time we spend in the Word, the more it changes us and we become like it. Once our spiritual man is in tune with the things
of the Spirit and is operating on His wavelength, we can perceive what actions
God would have us to take and how we are to proceed. Knowing the Bible allows us to test and approve
God’s will. It helps us to find what He sees as good, pleasing and perfect.
I encourage you today as you face the various life
issues before you, do not try to do it in your own power. Rather, come aside; study what the Bible says
about the matter. Allow His words to
change you. Then you will know what you
are to do. Then you can be assured of
pleasing Him and following His destiny for you.
Dear God, help me to be set apart from the things
of this world. Help my mind to be
changed and transformed in accordance with your Word. Show me your will and
guide me in the right path, for Your Name’s sake. Amen.
